Get ready to dust off those platform shoes and sequined outfits, because Bez Arts Hub is bringing disco fever to town. On Friday, November 22, 2024, from 7:00 PM to 11:00 PM, the venue will host "My Cousin's Wedding - Disco Edition," an all-ages community dance party that promises to unite neighbors of all generations on the dance floor.

The event, part of the popular "My Cousin's Wedding" series of dance parties that happen about once every quarter, aims to recreate the carefree, inclusive atmosphere of wedding receptions. Sandy Rosen, Creative Director at Bez Arts Hub, explains the concept: "It occurred to me that the unique thing about dances at weddings is that everybody just jams together in a crazy time of fun and anything-goes type of party."

Unlike typical nightclubs, My Cousins Wedding events welcome participants of all ages and backgrounds. "We LOVE that at weddings, it's okay for all ages to be dancing together—families, singles, older folks—a real gathering of the community," Rosen adds.

The upcoming disco-themed party will feature song requests and a best-dressed competition, encouraging attendees to embrace the spirit of the 1970s.

For those looking to brush up on their disco moves, a dance lesson will be offered at 7:30 PM.

Previous My Cousins Wedding events have created lasting memories for participants. Rosen recalls, "I loved the night when the first dancers to the dance floor were an 11-year-old boy and his father." She also notes that many attendees, particularly women, appreciate the pressure-free environment that allows them to "just come and dance and have a riot."
